Classroom Assignments

The Timetable of Class Meetings contains information on all courses offered in the current and three most recent terms and can be searched by subject area. Course are generally listed at least 60 days before the start of term. Class schedules, including meeting times, are established by departments and programs approximately two years in advance.

Classroom assignments for each term are coordinated by Department Chairs, Department Administrators, and the Arts and Sciences Registrar. Prior to each term, faculty submit classroom requests to their Departmental Administrators who submit these requests to the Registrar. You may request a room that meets the needs of your teaching style and activities by providing as much detail as possible when submitting a room request (i.e. moveable tables for group work, writeable surfaces for student use, etc.). Faculty requirements for seating capacity, room layout, furnishings, audio visual equipment, campus location, and other elements are matched to the inventory of suitable classrooms available at the given class hour. The most popular teaching hours are between 9:00 AM and 12:30 PM. Requests for these time slots always exceed the number of classroom spaces available during those hours. Classroom assignments are updated throughout the start of the term to accommodate changing class sizes. Prior to the end of each term, the Registrar sends a mailing to departments for the upcoming term's classroom assignments. Department staff coordinate faculty responses to this mailing.

If you have a question about your classroom assignment, please contact registrar@dartmouth.edu.

Classrooms may also be made available to faculty and members of the Dartmouth community for other purposes outside of regular classroom hours. Requests for extra-curricular use of classrooms may be made through Virtual EMS.
