Seed Grant Projects

DCAL sponsored over 35 experiential learning programs and courses from fall 2015 - spring 2019, representing the full spectrum of experiential learning pedagogy. The projects include on-campus and off-campus, academic and co-curricular, and short and long term experiences in arts and innovation, global and cultural engagement, and social impact learning.

Seed Grant Projects

ARTS & INNOVATION PROJECTS

Applied experiences with and reflection on art, performance, STEM fields, and entrepreneurship can have a profound impact on students' creativity and critical thinking skills.

GLOBAL & CULTURAL PROJECTS

Global learning is a core element of the Dartmouth experience, with students and scholars actively engaged in international study, research, and collaboration. Several experiential learning opportunities were designed to intentionally build students' global awareness and international understanding through global and cross-cultural experiences.

SOCIAL IMPACT PROJECTS

Sometimes referred to as service-learning, community-based learning, or engaged learning, experiential learning for social impact connects student learning experiences with the opportunity to explore social issues while addressing community-identified needs.

PILOT PROJECTS

The Pilot Projects - Hop Curricular Connections, BIOL 70: Biologic Lessons of the Eye, ANTH 6: Introduction to Biological Anthropology, Telling Stories for Social Change, and the Dartmouth Vietnam Project - were selected by DCAL as featured models of experiential learning in 2014-15. The faculty, co-curricular, partners, and students who engaged in each project provided insights and expertise to shape future resources and programming to support experiential learning at Dartmouth.
