DELTA Summit

In the summer of 2018, The Dartmouth Center for the Advancement of Learning (DCAL) partnered with the National Society for Experiential Education (NSEE) to convene the inaugural DELTA Summit: an applied, reflective professional development program that actively engaged educators in the process of gaining critical knowledge and skills in the theory and practice of experiential learning pedagogy while exploring big questions and challenges in our field.

The 2018 cohort included 60 highly imaginative, passionate educators and big-thinkers in the field of experiential learning. They represented 4 countries, 22 states, 50 colleges and universities, 8 K-12 schools, and 10 independent education organizations. The cohort met in Hanover, New Hampshire before heading up to Moosilauke Ravine Lodge for two days of building a cross-cutting community of experiential learning educators, sharing best practices, exchanging big ideas, and spending time in the beautiful outdoors during summer in New Hampshire.

The DELTA Summit was an innovative approach to professional development. DELTA was collaboratively designed and facilitated by a team of educators from across Dartmouth. This team was awarded the 2018 Lone Pine Excellence Award for Innovation for its work on DELTA.
