Course Assessments and Evaluations

Course assessments and evaluations are designed to provide instructors a sense of students’ perceptions and preferences in the classroom. There are two types of course assessments, and each has a different objective.

Classroom Assessments

Formative assessments administered during the term, intended to gather feedback on student learning in order to modify teaching if necessary. These are often administered mid-term, but can be used frequently throughout the term.

Summative assessments, administered at the end of the term and designed to give the instructor information about student perceptions of the class.
