In this meeting of the Accessible Dartmouth Initiative Podcast Group, we will dissect the idea of inclusive teaching and discuss concrete strategies to implement in your courses.

Through semi-structured discussions, we’ll spend this meeting of the Accessible Dartmouth Initiative Podcast Group dissecting the idea of inclusive teaching and discussing concrete strategies to implement in your courses. The instructions for taking part in this podcast group are below. While we highly encourage you to attend all 3 sessions, this is not a requirement. This is designed to work as a series or as individual events. Please email Carly Lesoski (carly.m.lesoski@dartmouth.edu) with any questions. 

Read the descriptions of the following podcast episodes. Choose at least 1 episode and listen to and/or read the transcript. We highly recommend that you take notes on points that are salient and interesting to you, including major takeaways and questions you might have. Consider using the guiding questions below to help with your notetaking. 

The estimated time commitment for this session is 2 hours (1 hour of preparation and 1 hour of discussion during the live session.) 

Guiding questions

  • How do the podcasters describe UDL? How do they situate it as part of inclusive pedagogy? 
  • According to the podcasters, how does UDL create a learning environment that promotes cultural diversity? 
  • What are other ways you and see that UDL increases inclusivity?
