Exams are a staple of science classes.  Most exams are summative- evaluating the students on meeting learning objectives.  But exams need not only be a "test".  They can also be a vehicle for learning- synthesizing information in new ways or thinking about a new concept.  In this Teaching Sciences Seminar, we will discuss strategies for focusing on student learning in exams, such multi-stage exams or the option to re-take certain portions.  Framing the discussion will be 3 Dartmouth faculty who use these techniques in their teaching:  Thalia Wheatley (PBS),  Patrick Dolph, (Biology), and John Pfister (PBS).  Come Join us!

Lunch will be provided, please register here: http://libcal.dartmouth.edu/event/3637771
