As disability activist Alice Wong notes, "Access is something that we all should have a responsibility for. And access is something that we all have capacity, in some way or another, to give to one another." Incorporating accessibility considerations into assignment instructions provides students with the opportunity to hone important digital literacy skills while also thinking deeply about the needs of their communities of inquiry and imagined audiences. In this workshop, we will explore example rubrics, assignments, and resources to envision what it might look like to incorporate accessibility into student work in your courses.
