"The Romaniotes are an ancient community of Greek Jews whose musical traditions, based on Byzantine chant and Greek folk music, have been barely studied. I am preserving these traditions through recording and archiving recordings of the Romaniote communities in Greece, most of which perished in the Holocaust. I am working with their community in New York, the only one in the western hemisphere, to reconnect their musical traditions."
