Small Teaching Online: Practical Strategies for Engaging Students During Covid-19

DCAL was pleased to welcome special guest Flower Darby, educator and author, recently for a discussion on the strategies that work to engage students in the remote learning environment.

In her 2019 book Small Teaching Online: Applying Learning Science in Online Classes, Darby outlines the "small but impactful strategies that result in significant gains in student engagement and learning." In this session, participants gained guiding principles for structuring learning in online and blended environments, brief learning activities, and tips for impactful (yet not too time-consuming) communication with students.
