Stamps Scholar Spotlight: Sirey Zhang '20

"My project seeks to understand how the legacies of colonialism and western exploitation affect health outcomes in the Iringa region of central Tanzania. European exploitation of native Africans has contributed to a mistrust towards health development and western medicine, which already clashes with how people traditionally think about disease and healing. I am hoping that my research gives insight on how to overcome these significant socio-cultural barriers to healthcare development in low-income countries."
