Teaching After the Election: Faculty Listening Circle

Join us for a faculty listening circle to connect with colleagues about teaching on the days following the 2024 election.

11/6/2024
12:00 pm – 1:30 pm
DCAL (Baker Library 102)
Intended Audience(s): Faculty

Registration required.

The 2024 U.S. presidential election cycle, like other recent political moments, is likely to be experienced by many as highly charged, keenly personal, and deeply divisive, regardless of one’s political views. Such collective experiences can threaten the interactions, relationships, and activities of any community, and the teaching and learning communities in our classrooms and on our campus are no exception.

Join us for a listening circle to connect with colleagues about teaching on the days following the 2024 election. Listening circles, rooted in indigenous cultures and supported by principles of restorative justice, offer space for expressing, listening, processing, and connecting on events and issues that challenge or affect a community.

During this circle experience, facilitators will pose questions to prompt the discussions, then participants will have the opportunity to speak while sharing the responsibility of listening deeply to one another.
