Join us for an interactive workshop with Tania Anaissie to explore concepts of harmful and Liberatory Design and engage in an activity to define your own design politics.
Join us for this interactive workshop where Beytna Design founder, Tania Anaissie, will share her journey of dissecting elements of Design Thinking she found to be harmful and rebuilding it to be rooted in liberation values. We will explore questions like, "What is the role of a designer in an oppressive society? How can we partner with experts with lived experience in a way that's authentic? How can we foster innovation without creating harm to communities traditionally marginalized by systems of oppression?" We will cover core concepts of both harmful and Liberatory Design and engage in an activity centered around defining your own design politics.
By the end of the session participants will be able to:
Tania is the Founder and CEO of Beytna Design, an equity-design firm that supports social sector leaders to actualize their commitment to equity. She is a Founding Creator of Liberatory Design, Founding Member of the Equity Design Collaborative, Faculty at The National Equity Project and a former Lecturer at the Stanford University d.school. Tania is a graduate of Stanford University's Product Design program and a StartingBloc fellow.
