Teaching & Learning in the Current Political Moment

In celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on January 16, DCAL will host a conversation with Rev. Osagyefo Uhuru Sekou about the challenges of teaching and learning in the current political moment.

Rev. Sekou, an activist, author, documentary filmmaker and theologian, has helped train thousands in nonviolent civil disobedience and recently emerged as a central figure in the protests in Ferguson, Missouri. Faculty are invited to join the conversation to explore among peers the questions, concerns, and opportunities they perceive as they prepare to teach during a new presidential administration. The discussion will be moderated by Professor of Government and Latin American, Latino and Caribbean Studies and Cheheyl Professor and Director of DCAL Lisa Baldez.
