This is a monthly gathering of graduate students and postdocs talking about teaching and learning.
Please join Erin Reinhart, a current graduate student in the Chemistry Department, in exploring inquiry-based teaching in laboratory courses. The meeting will begin with a reflection on our own laboratory experiences as students. Next, a short YouTube clip will be utilized as a teaching tool for exploring inquiry-based teaching. Finally, the meeting will end with a discussion of advantages and disadvantage of implementing this style of teaching in laboratory courses.
In order to cultivate a community focused on teaching and learning amongst graduate students and postdocs, DCAL has established a Learning Community for Future Faculty (LCFF). The focus of this group is to share the rewards and challenges of college teaching, while digging a bit deeper into best practices and techniques for teaching. The LCFF meets monthly on the 2nd Monday of the month.
